ASU Karsten expands PING club fitting program, adds Matt Phelps

The ASU Karsten Golf Course is expanding its PING club fitting program and has hired Matt Phelps as the course’s fulltime club fitter. The expansion of the club fitting program means additional fitting equipment, such as launch monitors and PING’s nFlight software, as well as additional PING branding throughout the facility. Phelps has more than 6 years of club fitting experience and has earned certifications from The Golf Academy, Henry Griffitts, Magique Golf, Hot Stix Golf and PING.

“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with PING Golf,” said ASU Karsten Golf Course Director of Golf Daryl Crawford. “When testing out new golf equipment, there’s simply no better place to do it than here at ASU Karsten – outdoors, on real grass so that real golf conditions can be matched. We’ll not only make sure your clubs are properly fit based on 14 variables, but you’ll also receive instant feedback on ball flight, launch angle and swing speed, all while hitting on our state-of-the-art practice facility. Plus, ASU Karsten is a recognized PING fitting account which means that our prices are competitive and delivery speed is often unmatched.”

The ASU Karsten Golf Course is a 7,002-yard, par-70 classic Pete Dye design reminiscent of a Scottish links course. Since opening in 1989, ASU Karsten has attracted the attention of prominent NCAA golf events and coveted tournaments such as the Phoenix Thunderbirds and PING Invitational. Managed by OB Sports, the ASU Karsten Golf Course is also home to the Arizona State University men’s and women’s NCAA golf teams, both multiple national championship winners.
