For the third consecutive year, Troon-managed facilities throughout Arizona teamed up with their golf customers to raise money for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The 13 participating golf facilities raised more than $80,000 after hosting Troon’s “Hit the Green for PCH” program, a 5k run, and special events this fall season. The donation was made official during a check presentation at the 15th Annual Phoenix Children’s Hospital Golf Tournament held at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ. on November 22, 2013.

Among the standout facilities was Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, AZ. for contributing $33,000 through the “Hit the Green” program and a 5k run called Miles for Kids held in November. The unique event attracted nearly 200 participants for an organized race that took place through the golf course itself. Whirlwind also used the 5k event to generate donations through selling preview golf memberships, with 100% of that revenue going straight to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Other standouts were Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ., which raised nearly $10,000 alone through the “Hit the Green” program as well as Troon North Golf Club, which contributed nearly $8,000 through the program. Examples of special events included Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, AZ. and the Ak-Chin Indian Community, which hosted a scramble golf tournament with proceeds from the golf portion of the event being donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The Gallery Golf Club near Tucson, AZ. hosted a “beat the pro” contest, challenging their members to make extra donations if they lost to their club pro on designated par threes.

In 2011 “Hit the Green” for PCH raised $20,000, which was more than doubled the following year with more than $45,000 raised. The more than $80,000 raised in 2013 brings the program’s overall total to more than $145,000 raised for Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

“Hit the Green” for PCH is an effort organized by Troon Drives H.O.P.E., which celebrates Troon’s facilities and associates around the world that are involved in charities, environmental initiatives and fundraising events. The four elements of H.O.P.E. serve to bring these actions to light and to share the collective impact Troon facilities and associates have on their communities.
