World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship draws near, race to secure position inside the top 64 in the world underway

With the first event of the calendar year in the book, the countdown to the 2014 World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship is well underway and returns to The Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona., February 17-23, 2014.

The 2014 Accenture Match Play Championship will feature the top 64 players in the OWGR as of Monday, February 10. The 2014 bracket and tee times will be unveiled on Sunday, February 16, once the OWGR is updated following the conclusion of the Northern Trust Open on the PGA TOUR.

Matt Kuchar, who won his first World Golf Championships title at last year’s Accenture Match Play Championship, is currently No. 8 in the World Ranking. He has posted two top-10 finishes in his 2013-14 PGA TOUR starts thus far: T7 at The McGladrey Classic; and T6 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Fans are reminded that each year, youth 18 and younger are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult. There is no limit to the number of youth 18 and younger who can attend with a ticketed adult.

The Accenture Match Play Championship is the first of four World Golf Championships events sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours. The other World Golf Championships include the Cadillac Championship (Doral, Fla.), the Bridgestone Invitational (Akron, Ohio) and the HSBC Champions (Shanghai, China). Proceeds from the Accenture Match Play Championship primarily benefit The Tucson Conquistadores youth charities, including The First Tee of Tucson, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA and Pima County Special Olympics. Since the Accenture Match Play Championship moved to Tucson in 2007, more than $10.1 million has been raised for area charities as a result of the tournament. The Accenture Match Play Championship has generated more than $14 million for charity since its inception, part of the more than $43.6 million raised for global charities since the advent of the World Golf Championships in 1999.
