Blackstone Country Club to sponsor Rally for the Cure golf tournament March 22

Blackstone’s 11th hole is a par 5 with a lake running down the right-hand side. A large, serpentine bunker runs to the front of the green that falls off on both sides.

Blackstone Country Club at Vistancia is sponsoring a Rally for the Cure golf tournament to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation on March 22.

The tournament, which is open to the public, can accommodate 25 teams of four players each (ladies only). Cost to enter is $100 per player.

The event will get underway at 7 a.m. with registration and a Continental breakfast, a 9 a.m. shotgun start (four-person scramble) on the Jim Engh-designed course and a 1:30 p.m. deli buffet lunch, awards presentation and prize drawing at Blackstone’s Hacienda clubhouse.

Players can determine their four-person team. The Blackstone golf shop will assist pairing singles, twosomes and threesomes.To register, send an email with each player’s name, home course and state, handicap association number and handicap index to Director of Golf Todd Cernohous at tcernohous@blackstoneccaz.com. An email confirmation will be returned within two days of receiving the registration. A check, payable to Blackstone Country Club, must be received by March 15.

In addition, local businesses can purchase hole sponsorships that include on-site signage, advertising and announcements during the event, or donate prizes for raffles and awards.

Rally for the Cure is a grassroots program created to support the promise of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and to spread the message that early detection saves lives. Since its inception in 1996, more than 1.5 million people have participated in and more than $45 million has been raised for Rally for the Cure events.

The private, gated Blackstone community is located within the Vistancia master plan in Peoria which is west of Lake Pleasant Road and north of Happy Valley Parkway.
