FireRock Country Club selects new General Manager along with new Food & Beverage Director

FireRock Country Club, the upscale, private golf course community in Fountain Hills recently announced the hiring of a new General Manager and Food and Beverage Director to its management team.

As a Transition Specialist for Troon Golf, Denis Matte was instrumental in providing key leadership as an interim general manager on newly-acquired golf properties throughout North America for Troon. Prior to his new post, Matte was general manager and chief operating officer at Scarboro Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Canada from 2008 - 2012. Ranked as one of the Top 50 golf courses in Canada, Scarboro recently celebrated its 100th Anniversary and was named Club of the Year in 2011 by the Canadian Society of Club Managers. As the only A.W. Tillinghast golf course in Canada, Matte supervised a $4.5 million enhancement to the Club’s golf course, golf shop and maintenance facility. The 1,000 member Club played host to the 2012 Canadian Tour Championship.


Matte holds many honors over the years including, being a member of the Canadian Society of Club Managers since 1987, National President in 2007, Certified Club Manager designation in 2007, Club Manager of the Year in Canada in 2006 and President’s Award winner in 2012.

Leading the charge for the Club’s culinary team as its new Food and Beverage Director will be Astolfo Mendoza who has been part of the Troon family for many years. Before coming to FireRock, Mendoza was food and Bbeverage manager at Troon Country Club, director of food and beverage at The Pine Canyon Club in Flagstaff and F&B director at the Carefree Resort & Conference Center.
