OB Sports Golf Management announced that Derek Crawford was chosen to assume the Director of Golf position at ASU Karsten Golf Course, replacing his twin brother Daryl Crawford who moved to Papago Golf Course as General Manager.

“Where do you start with these guys? They were brought up in the game and continue to grow as business leaders and all-around golf ambassadors,” said Phil Green, COO and Principal of OB Sports Golf Management. “Their love for golf, years of experience and strong work ethic has served them well over the years, and they haven’t forgotten to give back along the way. Their story is a great example of the way golf can become the foundation of success.”

Derek Crawford joins the ASU Karsten team after serving as the General Manager at Raven Golf Club – Phoenix. His experience spans the Valley to include We-Ko-Pa Golf Club, SunRidge Canyon Golf Club, Stonecreek Golf Club, PING tour rep, Gainey Ranch Golf Club and Orange Tree Golf Club. Daryl’s resume reads much the same with experience at Orange Tree Golf Club, Alta Mesa Country Club, PING tour rep, ASU Karsten Golf Course and a stint in Las Vegas at The Legacy Golf Club.

The Crawfords were born and raised in Phoenix where they began their journey on the links of the city’s municipal courses. Since then, they accumulated more than 30 years of experience in the Arizona golf industry. Derek and Daryl both graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School before attending Phoenix College and Arizona State University, where they played collegiate golf.

The Crawfords also have a long tradition of giving back to the game of golf by hosting myriad amateur events at their facilities; supporting efforts to grow the game through junior golf and even lobbying Congress in 2012 during National Golf Day. On the two-day trip, they met with Congressmen Joe Baca of California, Spencer Bachus of Alabama, Jim Clyburn of South Carolina and others alongside golf industry representatives such as the PGA TOUR, USGA, The First Tee, National Golf Course Owners Association, World Golf Foundation and others.

The Crawfords personalized the unique way the game of golf positively shapes the lives of so many in addition to its economic impact: $76 Billion annual contribution to the U.S. economy; source of thousands of small businesses most with 50 to 60 employees; and the green, sustainable, open space it conserves for all to enjoy.
