Local Shriners seek sponsors for their Pro Am tournament

The 18th annual Shriners Golf Classic has teamed up with the young ladies from The Cactus Tour once again for a Pro Am tournamena that literally sold out two months prior to the event in 2014.

The El Zaribah Shriners have been a mainstay of the Phoenix community since 1896 and preside over all Shriners in Arizona from Interstate 8, North to the border, as well as all Shriners in Sonora, Mexico. Aside from wearing those “funny red hats”, participating in many parades and holding the annual Shrine Circus, Shriners are also known for fully supporting 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children throughout North America. Shriners Hospitals for Children provides specialized care to children with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, regardless of their ability to pay. To date, Shriners has helped over 1,000,000 children at no cost.

The proceeds from the 2015 Shriners Golf Classic will help with the upkeep of their local headquarters building. As Executive Director of the Tournament, Tom Calvin, says, “If we don’t have a building, we can’t take care of the kids, simple as that”.

The Cactus Tour was created for professional women golfers as a place to play outside the LPGA and the Futures Tour and has evolved into not only a venue to improve their game, but as a place to prepare for events during the off time for amateur and professional golfers.

This weekend that is “all about fun and for a good cause” kicks off Friday evening, April 10th with a pre-tournament pairings party aptly named the Bash Before The Clash. It is open to the public and includes live entertainment, food, raffles and auctions. Also open to the public, men and women alike, Saturday morning, April 11th starts the Pro Am with 3 amateurs and one Cactus Tour Pro per team. This is a Scramble tournament that again, is all about fun. An Awards Luncheon follows golf at The Legacy. The young ladies then take to the course on their own beginning Monday, April 13th for the three day Shriners Golf Classic Cactus Tour Tournament, won last year by Tonya McCall of Las Vegas with a three day total of 209.

Sponsorship opportunities range from the Title Sponsor that includes both the Pro Am and the Cactus Tour Tournaments down to that of Tee Box Sponsor. To become a part of this great event and for further sponsor information or to register a team for golf, log onto www.Shrinersgolf.com.
