JGAA launches Junior Masters Series

New tournament series for accomplished junior golfers kicks off at AM&E Classic presented by Bryce Molder

The Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) announced the launch of a new tournament series called the Junior Masters Series. The invitation-only events are tailored towards junior golfers who want to compete against top-ranked peers and earn college scholarships.

“The Junior Masters Series will help Arizona’s junior golfers by giving them more opportunities to compete locally against other highly ranked players,” said Scott McNevin, Executive Director of the JGAA.  “It’ll also help them prepare for college golf, and engage local professional golfers such as Bryce Molder with Arizona’s junior golf community.”

The Junior Masters Series will consist of five regular tournaments and one Series Championship at some of the most prestigious courses in Arizona. The first event – AM&E Classic presented by Bryce Molder – will be held March 14-15 at Moon Valley Country Club. Dates and venues for additional events to be released soon.

As with PGA TOUR player Bryce Molder, the JGAA will call on local PGA or LPGA Tour players to help launch each Junior Masters Series tournament which will include a pairings banquet the evening prior to the first round, and attendance will be open to all current JGAA members and parents.

“Our goal is to provide a competitive place for aspiring players to play,” said George Getz, Chairman of the Board of the JGAA. “This tournament series will allow kids to earn national-level points and will serve as a launching pad into nationally chartered events.”

Each Junior Masters Series event will be limited to approximately 72 players, and invitations will be extended based on national Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings as well as past performances at JGAA events. All male players will be required to carry a national ranking of 2500 or better, while all female players will be required to carry a national ranking of 1500 or better. Openings for junior players from neighboring states will be dependent on availability at each event.  Qualified junior players can sign up for the Junior Major Series by visiting www.jgaa.org.
