Jon Stanley of John Jacob’s Golf Schools qualifies to play in 2016 US Senior Open

Action gets underway on August 11-14 at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio

As a 26-year member of the PGA of America, Jon Stanley has diligently worked his way up through the ranks of a golf course operation. Starting out as a Caddy Master, Stanley would later become an assistant professional, head golf professional and eventually Director of Instruction, a post he now holds for the world-renowned John Jacobs’ Golf Schools. Presently working out of Red Mountain Ranch Country Club in Mesa and Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City, Stanley has also kept his own playing game sharp and steady.

Recently, Stanley qualified for his second US Senior Open by shooting a 67, -5-under-par at Arrowhead Country Club in Glendale, which played host for Sectional Qualifying for the United States Golf Association. He also qualified to play in the 2009 US Senior Open, played at Crooked Stick Golf Club, the same golf course where John Daly burst onto the scene, winning one of golf’s majors, the 1991 PGA Championship after entering the tournament as its ninth alternate.

“I’m pretty excited about qualifying. It’s the US Open, for the older crowd and my second one. I can’t wait to get to Scioto CC and tee it up,” said Stanley, who has taught with John Jacobs’ Golf Schools since 2009.

Stanley is a two-time Southwest Section – PGA of America Senior Player of the Year and has played on three SWSPGA Robinson Cup teams and ten Goldwater Cup squads.

Stanley’s stellar career has featured titles at the 1988 Kentucky PGA Assistant Professional Championship, 1991 Maryland State Open, and the 2011 Southwest PGA Championship.

Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio is a Donald Ross design where Jack Nicklaus worked on his game as a youth under the watchful eye of Jack Grout, the Club’s head golf pro. Scioto CC is also where Bobby Jones won the second of four U.S. Open titles.
