Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club launches Li’l Wick Golf Short-Game Park

Following the tremendous success of its championship course’s debut, during which the club sold out every tee time for 100 consecutive days and was named among the “Best New Courses” of 2015 by Golf Digest, Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club is now offering a completely new type of golf experience this fall that’s sure to peg the needle when it comes to fun and friendly competition.

Dubbed Li’l Wick, this innovative and engaging nine-hole, par-3 golf park features the same stellar bentgrass greens and exceptional playing conditions that have propelled Wickenburg Ranch’s ”Big Wick” course to success. And, four of the nine holes are lit, allowing the fun to last well into the evening. Until the end of the year, daily-fee guests are able to play Li’l Wick for just $25 per player. Or, they may include a visit to visit Li’l Wick before or after their rounds on Big Wick.

Play is first-come, first served – no tee times. And, players are encouraged to use their imaginations when playing. Li’l Wick will include many unique features, such as bunkers behind some of the tees, giving players an opportunity to play long bunker shots to greens. Such optional features allow players to challenge each other’s shot-making abilities with a golf version of the schoolyard game of H-O-R-S-E.

Yet, along with the special skills challenges, Li’l Wick is a great place for those learning the game to have fun in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

“This is a fun place where our members and guests can truly enjoy hanging out. We want to give them plenty of reasons to smile, laugh and build lasting friendships” said Justin Henderson, Head Golf Professional at Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club. “We have everything from families and neighbors enjoying competitions to guys grinding over putts to settle bets.”

Though golf is the central theme, Li’l Wick is much more than a golf course. It is perhaps more accurately described as the best 18-acre park in the state. The course is routed through a picturesque canyon along the eastern flank of the Wickenburg Ranch development, giving it tons of natural beauty and character. The course surrounds Watering Hole, an inviting bar and grill which features classic American fare as well as select beers, wines and cocktails. Popular outdoor games, nine wide-screen televisions showing all the latest big games, fire pits, a four-person hammock, an outdoor smoker/barbecue grill and music streamed around the course complete the laid-back fun vibe. And, unlike a traditional golf course, pedestrians and onlookers not only are welcomed, but encouraged to enjoy the fun.

Adjacent to Li’l Wick is an amphitheater behind the 9th tee box that is ideal for concerts, weddings and other special events. Overlooking the golf course is a yoga park and an observatory deck with a state-of-the-art telescope, allowing members and special guests to enjoy Wickenburg Ranch’s dark-sky community.

Located approximately one hour and 15 minutes northwest of downtown Phoenix near the intersections of Highways 89 and 93 in the historic town of Wickenburg, Arizona, the club provides the social and recreational hub for the Wickenburg Ranch master-planned community. Wickenburg Ranch is under development by Shea Homes and Phoenix-based M3 Companies. It features one of Shea’s newest Trilogy resort communities.
