Championship Players Tour begins tournament play in June, 2010

The Championship Players Tour (CPT) is a pro-am golf tour for players 18 and over. The Tour will conduct professionally managed tournaments within the Phoenix Metro area and provide a competitive environment for all players. The CPT has scheduled 14 tournament dates beginning June 2010 and concludes the season in December. The 2011 season is scheduled to begin mid-January and will host 23 events.

Many professional and elite amateur golfers have contemplated playing tournament golf on a full-time basis, but for one reason or another, life or work got in the way. The CPT is designed to minimize player entry and travel expenses while maximizing playing opportunities by offering multiple tournaments throughout the year with only local travel required. The Tour is also geared to place a majority of the entry fee into the prize pool. Now is your opportunity to gain valuable tournament experience while competing against players from around the Valley and state.

Unique to the CPT is that the top 30 Gateway and top 15 Pepsi Tour money list players will be excluded from any competition. Amateur golfers must carry a verifiable Index of 9.9 or less to register for membership.  Competitive play will be held in four divisions with the Open Division allowing Championship Division players to compete heads-up with the professionals if they like.

Open Division entry fees will begin at $185.00, while amateur entries will begin at $120.00 per event. There are no membership fees. Additional information regarding the tour schedule and its membership criteria can be found on the Tour website at www.championshipplayerstour.com.
