Gilbert resident’s hole-in-one wins new BMW at Scottsdale Healthcare Golf Classic

Thousands of uninsured families will receive care through the Scottsdale Healthcare NOAH clinics serving the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley school districts, thanks to contributions from the 25th annual Scottsdale Healthcare Golf Classic.

Presented by Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation, the tournament held at McCormick Ranch Golf Club had a field of more than 400 golfers participating in the April 9-10 event.

Steve deLaveaga of Gilbert, Arizona, won a BMW 328 hardtop convertible on his second hole of the tournament with a hole-in-one.  He aced the 169-yard hole with his 6 iron. Valued at $50,000, the car was donated by Chapman BMW on Camelback in Phoenix.

The winning amateur team, with a two-day combined score of 169.9, included David Bean, Greg Mann, Kurt Mann and Brian Steines. Waterford crystal trophies were awarded to the winners.

Top professional was Blake Parks, who shot 65 – 68 for a low total of 133.  Parks is from Odessa, Texas and plays on the Gateway Tour out of Odessa Country Club.  His take of the $50,000 total pro purse was $15,000.
