The Southwest Section is conducting the SWPGA Teaching Competition at Talking Stick Golf Club on Sunday, October 29th. This is a unique event that matches, through a blind draw, one Golf Professional with one amateur. The professional coach is given 90 minutes to spend with their student however they see fit, and prepare for the 18-hole stroke play competition with a 12:30 pm shotgun start. Here’s the catch – the pro never hits a shot but rather continues the coaching of their student during the 18 holes of golf.
Students will be handicapped based on their current established index, ranging from 12-22. The field will consist of the first 72 coaches and students to register. All teaching aids are allowed during the round but all strokes count! The lowest net score wins the competition. Pros will compete for a purse of at least $15,000 and amateurs will win prizes.
A raffle and silent auction will raise money for the Southwest Section PGA Charitable Foundation.
Entry Fee for Amateurs is $350, which includes golf, coaching, lunch, food at the reception during the awards ceremony, a tee favor from Johnnie O, a custom wedge stamping from Combine Golf and a gift certificate from the PGA Superstore.
Entry Fee for Professionals is $95 and includes lunch and reception.
Sponsored by Johnnie O, Constellation Brands Beverages, Combine Golf, The PGA Superstore, Scottsdale Porsche, VISION54 and the Talking Stick Cultural and Entertainment Destination.
