OB Sports hires Ryan Whitney to open Pacific Northwest office

OB Sports Golf Management is proud to announce the opening of a Pacific Northwest office located in the greater-Seattle area, and under the leadership of Ryan Whitney who will serve as Senior Vice President of Operations & Business Development. Facilitating the company’s continued growth in the region, the Pacific Northwest branch is a homecoming of sorts for OB Sports, which was based in both Portland, OR., and Kirkland, WA. for many years before relocating to Scottsdale, AZ., in 2000.

“It has come time that we re-open an office that can best serve the Pacific Northwest and its tremendous golfing needs,” said Orrin Vincent, Founder and Chairman of OB Sports and himself a Northwest native. “The Northwest has become a hotbed of the golf industry and OB Sports is perfectly positioned to continue growing its management portfolio in this region in addition to a focus on maintenance and construction projects.”

OB Sports currently manages two properties in Washington: Gamble Sands in Brewster, the top-ranked public course in the state; and Mill Creek Country Club, a successful equity-owned private club just north of Seattle. OB Sports also currently manages five properties in Oregon, and has been involved with the design, construction and management of many more properties throughout the Pacific Northwest, dating back to the company’s inception in 1972.

Leading OB’s Pacific Northwest operation, Whitney is a veteran of nearly 25 years in the golf industry. His appointment serves as a return to OB Sports after working for the company as a corporate Director of Marketing as well as general manager of several prominent clubs.

“We are delighted to welcome Ryan back to the OB Sports family,” said Phil Green, COO of OB Sports Golf Management. “In addition to helping us grow our presence in the Pacific Northwest, his tremendous expertise with private clubs will elevate the entire OB Sports portfolio.”

Whitney joins OB Sports after five years as the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Sand Point Country Club in Seattle, WA. Under his watch, Sand Point produced four consecutive years of growth, while adding specialty nights and other signature events to foster member engagement and boost food and beverage participation at the club.

Prior to Sand Point, Whitney spent almost five years as general manager of TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. During his tenure, Whitney oversaw and directed efforts that resulted in hundreds of new members at this prominent private club, and served as liaison for five PGA Champions Tour Boeing Classic events. Whitney has also served as the corporate director of golf operations for Wash.-based Oki Golf, and general manager at Washington National, which was originally developed by OB Sports.

A graduate of Brigham Young University, with a B.A. in Communications and Public Relations, Whitney resides in Washington with his wife of 26 years and five children.
