Scottsdale’s Demsey wins Gateway Pro Tour Q-School Raffle worth $4,500

Gateway Pro Tour logoProfessional golfer and Scottsdale resident Todd Demsey didn’t make it out of the first round of the PGA TOUR qualifying school, but he did get a nice little consolation when the Gateway Pro Tour announced that he was the winner of its first Q-School raffle, held on Dec. 1st at the Gateway Pro Tour office in Scottsdale.

Demsey wins $4,500 in the drawing, which is equal to the entry fee to participate in Q-School. The raffle was set up this Fall by the Gateway Pro Tour and open to anyone participating in PGA TOUR Q-School this season.

“We just wanted to do something to help some of these guys that are playing in Q-School and trying to reach their dream of playing on the PGA TOUR,” Pray said. “To a lot of these guys playing on the developmental golf Tours, the Q-school entry fee is a big financial burden, and we just wanted to show our support with this drawing.  Todd has been a great member and supporter of the Gateway Pro Tour, and we are excited to award him this check for $4,500.”

Demsey, a standout player at Arizona State University and former PGA TOUR player, had conditional status on the Nationwide Tour this season and played in 14 tournaments, as well as playing on the Gateway Pro Tour. He has conditional Nationwide Tour status again this year, and he plans to play in a number of Gateway Pro Tour events in 2011, as well.

Demsey did not advance to the final stage of Q-School this year, getting bounced out with a T35 finish in the first stage at Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee, CA. However, the $4,500 bump in his bank account will be a nice little consolation for the Scottsdale resident.

The 2011 Gateway Pro Tour will begin its 10th season with a two-day Sponsorship Event at Troon North, Jan. 4-5. The winner of this 36-hole event will earn paid entry fees into all 18 Arizona Series events for the 2011 Gateway Pro Tour season. Membership applications are still being accepted.
