The word “anthem” means a song or hymn of praise or gladness. Club Members at Anthem Golf & Country Club, in the heart of the Anthem, Arizona community, love to sing its praises. Anthem is the best kept secret in the Valley. Golf members residing in Anthem as well as the North Valley boast about their Club with two of everything.

The Club features two championship golf courses, two pro shops, two practice facilities, two state of the art Fitness Centers, two tennis gardens, two resort-style pools, and two dining environments for upscale and casual dining. The Persimmon and Ironwood Clubhouses also offer beautifully landscaped lawns, expansive patios, private rooms and an indoor ballroom which can hold up to 450 guests making it a perfect place to hold private events.

The Country Club is nestled in the quiet beauty of the high Sonoran desert foothills at the base of Daisy Mountain. The hillside setting and breathtaking mountainous views make playing on the Club’s two 18-hole championship golf courses, designed by Greg Nash, a memorable experience every time. Nash, a club member and the designer of both golf courses, has provided golfers two dramatically different challenges in the Persimmon and Ironwood layouts that stretch more than 7200 yards each. Both Anthem courses boast large greens, and a five-pin rotation for hole placements that keep the layouts interesting for members. And, with five sets of tee markers there is a course yardage to fit every game.

Persimmon
The Persimmon Course, which opened to rave reviews in 1999, features elevation changes from 50 to 300 feet. The Persimmon Course is the more traditional of the two and features a signature 18,000-square-foot double green that concludes both the 9th and 18th holes. Perhaps most notable is the final stretch of holes 15 through 18 that makes for a strong finish.

Ironwood
The Ironwood Course, which opened in January 2004, encompasses seven water features, strategic bunkers, and a backdrop of a majestic mountain mesa. Ironwood’s attractive desert design balances the natural landscape of cacti, sage and rough, rocky mountains, with well-kept greens and beautifully shaped fairways. It is a classic high risk/high reward design. Post game discussion most often focuses on “Anthem Alley,” the 10th through 12th uniquely crafted water holes that tend to play with scores.

Anthem Golf & Country Club attracts members from across the country by offering a vast amount of amenities and a golf lifestyle that is like being a member of your own private golf resort. Anthem’s membership has you covered with a great representation of all ages, stages of life and skill levels.  Golfing with friends and family is as equally popular as the avid Men’s and Ladies’ Golf Associations that both play two days each week.

The Club’s main purpose is to build relationships and enrich the lives of its members while serving the community it represents. The Club recently completed its fourth annual Charity Classic event in 2010 raising nearly $60,000 for three charities including over $18,000 given to the Anthem Public Schools. In just four short years, Club members have raised over $172,000 for its various charities through the annual event.

Anthem is a proud member of the ClubCorp family since 2006 and has enjoyed the benefits of being a non-equity club. As the golf landscape continues to change one thing is for certain, the financial stability of a private club is more important to new members joining than ever before.  Where many equity clubs are assessing to cover operating costs, the members of non equity clubs may have an advantage with owners like ClubCorp who are better prepared to weather the economic shifts.
