Peter Koo and Anna Kim win 16th Thunderbird Invitational

Peter Kyo Won Koo and Anna Kim, both from Chandler, took home the titles at the 16th Annual Thunderbird Invitational, played at Papago Golf Course, March 5-6. Koo won the Boys 15-18 Division with a two-day total of 142 (72-70), while Kim took home the victory in the Girls 15-18 Division with a two-day total of 150 (79-71).

In the Boys 13-14 Division, Austin Stadeli of Scottsdale took home the victory with a two-day total of 147 (72-75). Carly Akine of Glendale won the Girls 13-14 Division with a two-day total of 153 (77-76).

Blake Toolan, of Phoenix, finished in 2nd place in the Boys 15-18, with rounds of 72-72 for a two-day total of 144. Jamie Waltmire, of Tucson and Zach Wright, of Phoenix, tied for 3rd with two-day totals of 145. Rounding out the Girls 15-18 Division, Laura Jabczenski, of Tucson and Saki Iida, of Gilbert, tied for 2nd with two-day totals of 154.

In the Boys 13-14 Division, Zack Stadola, of Gilbert, finished in 2nd place with a two-day total of 160. Megan Knadler finished in 2nd place in the Girls 13-14 Division, with a two-day total of 162.

Working in tandem with the Thunderbirds and the Junior Golf Association of Arizona, the 16th annual Thunderbird Invitational featured 60 of the state’s finest junior golfers whose participants range in age from 13-18 and were placed within their respective age groups.
