Blackstone Country Club golf tournament exceeds fundraising goal for Singleton Moms

Blackstone Country Club at Vistancia raised more than $30,000 to benefit Singleton Moms, an organization supporting single parents battling cancer, during a benefit golf tournament held March 21 on the club course.

The Peoria club’s goal was to raise $25,000 for this first time event but Blackstone Director of Golf Todd Cernohous said that funds raised through tournament entry fees, putting contests, silent auctions and sponsorships exceeded that figure by more than $5,000. “We plan to make it an annual event and we look forward to growing the tournament with each year,” states Cernohous.

Singleton Moms was founded in 2006, by two Valley women who watched their childhood friend succumb to cancer. The non-profit offers emotional, financial and domestic support to single mothers and fathers in Maricopa County who have children living at home, are receiving cancer-related treatments and are in need of financial and/or household assistance.

Blackstone Country Club member Jane Dibbern organized the event which attracted 100 golfers as well as numerous non-golfers who participated in the many putting contests and silent auction.
