The AWGA State Amateur Match Play Championship was held at Papago Golf Club on May 9-12, with 19 year old Kylee Duede winning the title. Kylee finished with a score 3 & 2 over AWGA legend and defending champion, Tui Selvaratnam. Kylee played on the Paradise Valley Community College team and on the ASU women’s golf team. She will be attending Drake University in Iowa for her junior and senior years with a partial academics/athletic scholarship.

The State Match Play Championship is the first major win for Kylee and it was the first tournament she entered in 2011. Kylee experienced competition with highly skilled players when she entered the AWGA Match Play Championship. “I had to bring my A game every day,” she said.  “It was really shocking to see how much my game has progressed,” she added.

“I have learned so much from my ASU coaches, LPGA Pros Missy Farr-Kaye and Melissa Luellen,” she said, recognizing that her game had greatly improved with their instruction. “I have reached another level in competing and I’m ready and eager to play with the Drake golf team.”
