Hall of Famer Amy Alcott to host distinctive Solheim Cup golf and travel experience

World Golf and LPGA Hall of Fame legend Amy Alcott has teamed with Owenoak International, a leading Connecticut-based travel company, on the design of a distinctive golf vacation for golf enthusiasts to attend the 2011 Solheim Cup being contested at Killeen Castle, Ireland (located just north of Dublin) from September 23-25, 2011. The Solheim Cup, the women’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup, pits the top 12 LPGA American golfers against a squad of the 12 best European players.

Alcott, winner of five major championships and 32 tournaments worldwide, will lead a party of American golf fans on a fantastic eight-day trip to experience the Solheim Cup up front and personal, and she will offer guests her astute perspective on the game and its players. The party will be based at Carton House Hotel, a magnificent 18th century stately home located in the heart of a 1,100 acre walled estate, once the seat of the Dukes of Leinster. It is now a luxury resort with a wide range of activities and amenities, including two championship golf courses, one designed by Mark O’Meara and the other by Colin Montgomerie.

Apart from attendance at the Solheim Cup matches, the program includes unlimited golf on the Carton House courses and a golf clinic from Amy, followed by a tournament. The social activities include a sightseeing tour of Dublin city, with time for shopping; three cocktail parties, one with a number of former Solheim Cup captains; four dinners at the hotel and one Traditional Irish Cabaret and dinner at Taylor’s Three Rock pub in Dublin. Full details of the program may be found on Owenoak’s website www.owenoak.com. The price per person double occupancy is $4,325.
