Scottsdale Golf Group buys Orange Tree Golf Club

Scottsdale Golf Group (SGG) is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Orange Tree Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The property consists of an 18-hole championship golf course and a 60,000 square foot clubhouse, banquet facilities and conference center.

“We feel fortunate to have acquired Orange Tree Golf Club,” said Founder and CEO Shelby Futch. “ We have been involved in the golf industry in Arizona for over 30 years and recognize the history and tradition of Orange Tree.

SGG is committed to invest in improvements to the golf course, and begin a phased renovation of the restaurant, lounge, and conference room facilities, which were closed in 2009 as a result of the economic downturn, as well as the ballroom and banquet sales.

Scottsdale Golf Group was founded in 1983 with John Jacobs Golf Schools. Since then, seven golf courses have been purchased including Painted Mountain Golf Resort, Hillcrest Golf Club, Red Mountain Ranch Country Club, Legend Trail Golf Club, Corte Bella Golf Club and Orange Tree Golf Club in Arizona. River Crossing Country Club in San Antonio, Texas was recently purchased in 2011.

“My philosophy is to purchase and hold properties, and I believe the acquisition of Orange Tree Golf Club is a wonderful opportunity to add another historic Arizona golf property to our portfolio,”  Futch  said. “Each course we own is unique and we design custom plans for every property. We are very hands on.”
