Doug Davis Foundation Celebrity Golf Invitational and Poker Tournament set for December 2-4

Eat, drink, play golf and play poker with Major League Baseball Hall of Famers, All-Stars and Cy Young award winners at the Doug Davis Foundation Celebrity Golf and Poker Invitational, set for Dec. 2-4 at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale.

Hosted by former Arizona Diamondback pitcher Doug Davis and his charity organization, the Doug Davis Foundation, this annual charity tournament has raised more than $150,000 for charity in just three years. The Doug Davis Foundation has selected The Purple Society, the Steele Children’s Research Center and the Miracle League of Arizona as beneficiaries for this year’s charity event.

“The goal of the Doug Davis Foundation is to help children in need, and this fundraiser is one of the biggest ways to do that,” Davis said. “It’s a chance for people to meet and have some fun with current and former baseball stars, while giving back to the community and helping kids.”

The event will take place over three packed days and will begin with the VIP Kickoff Party on Friday, Dec. 2. A live baseball game featuring kids with special needs will take place in the morning at the Miracle League Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 3, followed by the Texas Hold ‘Em/Blackjack tournament on Saturday night.  The four-person plus celebrity scramble golf tournament will take place on Sunday, Dec. 4 at the Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale. All events include free food and refreshments for participants.

The current list of celebrities expected to be on hand includes Hall of Famers Paul Molitor, Robin Yount and Fergie Jenkins; as well as current Arizona Diamondback broadcaster Mark Grace, former Diamondbacks star Luis Gonzalez, Dan Haren, Mark Reynolds, Miguel Montero, J.J. Hardy, Steve Stone, Tim Raines and many more. Each foursome will be paired with a celebrity guest.

Individual playing spots are $750, which includes a ticket to the VIP party, a seat at the Celebrity Texas Hold ‘Em and Blackjack tournament and one player entry into the four-person scramble golf tournament, which includes breakfast, lunch and buffet dinner with silent and live auctions, celebrity introductions and awards ceremony. Additional sponsorship packages are available that include tickets to the Celebrity and VIP-only Kickoff Party on Friday, December 2.
