ASU Karsten offers instruction by two of the Top-15 instructors in the state as ranked by Golf Digest

The ASU Karsten Golf Course now offers premier instruction from two of the Top-15 golf instructors in the state according to Golf Digest’s 2011-2012 “The Best Teachers in Your State” rankings. As ranked by their peers, Scott Watkins, formerly at Arizona Country Club, ranks 11th and Matt Trimble was listed as No. 14.

“We’re delighted to have two of our instructors rank in the Top-15 in the state,” said ASU Karsten Director of Golf Daryl Crawford. “The ASU Karsten Learning Center appeals to a wide range of golfers and the knowledge that these two bring to the table will only further enhance our programs.”

Scott Watkins, a former ASU All-American, recently joined the team at the ASU Karsten Learning Center and brings with him more than 31 years of experience in all facets of the golf business. Some of Watkins’ achievements include PGA TOUR membership for four years, a four-time Southwest Section champion and Arizona Open champion.

Matt Trimble has been with ASU Karsten for nearly 20 years and has worked on cooperative efforts with the Arizona State University’s nationally ranked golf programs. Trimble is also a volunteer coach for both the men’s and women’s golf teams at Arizona State University.

The ASU Karsten Golf Course is a 7,002-yard, par-70 classic Pete Dye design reminiscent of a Scottish links course. Since opening in 1989, ASU Karsten has attracted the attention of prominent NCAA golf events and coveted tournaments such as the Phoenix Thunderbirds and PING Invitational. Managed by OB Sports, the ASU Karsten Golf Course is also home to the Arizona State University men’s and women’s NCAA golf teams, both multiple national championship winners.
