Golf Chronicles retained by Gateway Tour as official photographer

Phoenix-Based company will provide action tournament photos

A Phoenix-based photography company has been named the official photographer for the Gateway Tour, the world’s largest developmental golf tour dedicated to providing an environment where players can build the skills necessary to compete on the PGA Tour.
Golf Chronicles, headed by president and founder Allan Henry, has formed a partnership with tour officials to, “Help us with a variety of photographic needs that will aid us in the marketing of the tour and our individual players,” said Ryan Pray, vice president of tour operations for the Gateway Tour.
Under the new agreement, Golf Chronicles will provide the Scottsdale-based tour with tournament action photography for commercial and editorial usage, as well as player images for online portfolios and sponsorship offerings. Initially, Golf Chronicles will concentrate its efforts on supporting the Gateway Tour’s Arizona operations.
Henry, 35, a professional photojournalist with specialized expertise in the game of golf, founded Golf Chronicles in 2008 with the mission to “capture the journeys of golfers as they experience the great golf courses in the world.”
Founded in August 2001, The Gateway Tour was created to help aspiring PGA TOUR golfers fine-tune their skills in competitive tournaments. Growing from a 14-tournament Tour that paid out $2.4 million to its players in first season in 2002, The Gateway Tour successfully ran 71 events in 2008, including four Championships totaling $1.1 million in guaranteed purses - the $200,000 Winter Series Championship, the $200,000 Spring Series Championship, the $300,000 Mid Summer Championship, and the $400,000 Gateway Tour Championship Presented by Mercy Medical Center. Along with each of its Series events, these Championships helped account for just under $7 million in purses paid out to Gateway Tour players in 2008.
