McDowell Mountain Golf Club breaks ground on new clubhouse

McDowell Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona recently broke ground on their new clubhouse facility. Designed by Arizona-based PHX Architecture, the clubhouse enhancement project will expand upon the dining opportunities, provide climate controlled, enclosed space for special events and ultimately position the clubhouse as a gathering place for the community, golfing and non-golfing guests.

The new clubhouse facility will take the existing clubhouse from 8,000 square feet to over 12,000 square feet. Additional clubhouse features include a large covered outdoor dining terrace, indoor/outdoor bar, upgraded restroom facilities, new locker rooms and enclosure of the existing event space. The materials are all native and in keeping with not only the McDowell Mountain Ranch neighborhood, but also the desert environs of Scottsdale. One of the most dramatic features of this new clubhouse facility will be how the new facility will take full advantage of the spectacular vistas towards the West and the dramatic views of Scottsdale and the Valley of Sun.

All clubhouse renovations will be completed over the next few months and will be unveiled in January of 2013. McDowell Mountain’s practice facility and golf course remain open throughout the renovations.

“As a resident of McDowell Mountain, I am personally thrilled to be a part of helping McDowell Mountain Golf Club with their vision to create a community gathering place for golfers and non-golfers alike,” stated Jeff Innes, principal of PHX Architecture. “I’m even more excited about helping make a place in my neighborhood/community where we all can go and call our own. Everyone in the area is truly excited about it,” added Innes.

The clubhouse facility will add to what has been an extensive facility enhancement program that started in 2011 with enhancements to the golf course itself. Led by golf course architect Randy Heckenkemper, the club completed an ambitious golf course improvement project that included the creation of wider playing corridors, reshaping a number of fairways, adding additional teeing areas, additional waste bunkers and more.
