Arizona State University renewed its operating agreement with OB Sports Golf Management for management of the ASU Karsten Golf Course. The public course is a 7,002-yard, par 70 Pete Dye design and ranked as one of the top 30 collegiate courses in the country by Golfweek Magazine.

“The renewed operating agreement ensures that we can continue to deliver a premier golf experience for our frequent players, students, golf tournaments and special events moving forward,” stated C.A. Roberts, president of OB Sports Golf Management. “We look forward to continuing to deliver the exceptional experiences provided day in and day out at ASU Karsten whether golfing, dining, or meeting with friends or colleagues. We are honored to continue the rich golf traditions at ASU Karsten Golf Course.”

OB Sports Golf Management is committed to creating sustainability both in its landscape maintenance operations, and the planet as a whole. Through a variety of methods, OB Sports works with communities to ensure that it minimizes the impact on its sites and the greenhouse effect while at the same time working to improve soil conditions, reduce water run-off and waste and minimize its carbon footprint. Some of those methods include the use of organic fertilizer, “smart” irrigation, composting and the use of zero-emission utility vehicles.

“OB Sports is at the top of the profession in sustainability-related and environmental friendly practices,” said Steve Patterson, ASU Vice President for University Athletics and Athletics Director. “We look forward to continuing a solid working relationship with OB Sports. We will be able to provide the same outstanding services and golf experiences to the public and to our men’s and women’s golf teams.”

The ASU Karsten Golf Course is a 7,002-yard, par-70 classic Pete Dye design reminiscent of a Scottish links course. Since opening in 1989, ASU Karsten has attracted the attention of prominent NCAA golf events and coveted tournaments such as the Phoenix Thunderbirds, the PING Invitational and recently the AJGA PING Phoenix Junior. ASU Karsten is home to a complete practice facility that features world-class instructional offerings from Matt Trimble and former ASU All American Scott Watkins. Both men are recognized as two of the top 15 golf instructors in the state of Arizona according to Golf Digest’s 2011-2012 “The Best Teachers in Your State” rankings. ASU Karsten’s Sun Angel Clubhouse also is home to a well-appointed golf retail center and the Trophy Room restaurant, a popular dining and banquet/special event venue.
