Palm Valley Golf Club has two distinct 18-hole layouts, superb conditions, and complete practice and dining facilities make it a true gem of the West Valley and a must play destination for those visiting the Phoenix area. It's a supreme challenge for the low handicap golfer yet forgiving for someone who wants an enjoyable experience regardless of the score.
The Arthur Hills-designed Palms Course, a par-72 layout that covers 7,015 yards from the back tees, features one of the finest closing holes in the region -- the par 5 18th with a lake on the left side of the fairway that wraps around a three-tiered green. The par-62 Lakes Course, designed by Hale Irwin, offers a shorter, quicker round of golf although no less of a challenge. The Lakes Course winds through the desert with many of its greens guarded by water.
Palm Valley features a well-appointed golf shop, practice facility and the Fairway Grille, a full service bar and restaurant with several big-screen TVs plus a spacious patio offering spectacular views of the golf course and surrounding mountains. Palm Valley also is home of the Waterfront Pavilion, a popular venue for weddings, banquets and special events.
Less than 20 miles west of downtown Phoenix, Palm Valley Golf Club is located in the heart of the West Valley's top sports and entertainment venues –just minutes from University of Phoenix Stadium, Jobing.com Arena, Camelback Ranch (spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox), Goodyear Ballpark (spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians), Peoria Ballpark (spring training home of the Texas Rangers) and Phoenix International Raceway.

One of the best reasons to drive to the west valley for a round of golf is Palm Valley Golf Club. Just 30 minutes from downtown Phoenix, Palm Valley offers 36 holes of challenging, plus fun golf for golfers of all skill levels. They offer 18 holes of championship golf on their Palms course designed by Arthur Hills, and 18 holes of ‘let’s test your short game skills ‘ on their par 62, Hale Irwin designed Lakes course. Note: If you want to hone in on your short game this is the course that will grab your attention, immediately.
Palm Valley Golf Club offers a well appointed golf shop in their exceptional clubhouse which houses the Fairway Grille with flat screens to give it a sports bar feel for diners and golfers as well as a wonderful patio overlooking the lake at the 9th hole. The patio is the perfect spot for a libation and watching the sunset or for breakfast or lunch before your round. The food is delicious!
Palm Valley Golf Club is now managed by OB Sports and subtle changes are in the process. You can already feel an increase in service that is customary for OB Sports managed facilities. The staff is attentive and friendly insuring a good experience on a fine venue.
The practice facilities are excellent with a conveniently located large putting green just outside the pro shop, excellent chipping and bunker areas, and a large driving range. Be sure to head out earlier than usual to warm up for your round. It’s a pleasurable experience on this layout.
You’ll experience a variety of terrain during your round with views of the Estrella Mountains and White Tanks. The course is in good shape, greens hold well and putt true. This is a course that delivers the challenge while providing a fun round of golf. And, yes ladies, it’s a women friendly course.
Hole #9, par 5, 545 yards from the tips. Large carry over desert with water on the left which comes into play with your 2nd shot. But, best to stay to the right to position yourself for the next shot into a slight dogleg left with bunkers on your right, water on your left to an elevated, tiered penisula green. This is the #1 handicap hole and you’ll know exactly why, once you’ve experienced it. Though it can ruin your front nine, it’s a great hole that you can’t wait to get a second chance at.
Hole #12, par 3, 195 yards from the tips. This one is always a favorite because it’s quite the visual for your first time on the tee box. Plenty of desert on the right, slightly elevated green with no room to overshoot and boulders embedded into the hill sides of the green. Trust the yardage…and remember it’s on the fly! Great par 3!
Hole #17, par 4, 410 yards from the tips. Slight dogleg left and be sure to stay to the left on your shots. Fairway slopes to the right and trouble all the way to the elevated green, protected by bunkers on left front and two in center back. This is one tough par 4 because you’ll either score on it or wish your score would disappear.
Palm Valley Golf Club has always been one of my favorite courses to play in the west valley as well as one of the best values. The club offers an excellent annual golf card, specials for Arizona residents and guaranteed best rates with their online booking site.
For special events or weddings, the Waterfront Pavilion banquet complex, just west of the clubhouse, is a popular venue with beautiful views to compliment the occasion.
Palm Valley Golf Club is located just nine miles from University of Phoenix Stadium, Jobing.com arena, and PIR Race Track and is a perfect golf destination to take in a pre-game round of golf prior to attending a professional sporting event.
