SWSPGA inducts three professionals into Hall of Fame

Gainey Ranch Golf Club played host to the Southwest Section PGA’s annual awards and Hall of Fame dinner, January 11th.  Three long time professionals were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Dana Garmany, PGA. Dana has more than 30 years of golf experience, is a member of several Hall of Fames and has been named by Golf Inc. and Golf Digest as one of the most influential people in golf. His drive and ambition has helped grow Troon Golf from its inception in 1990 to its current place as the leading golf management company in the world, operating in more than 25 different states and several countries. As their current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dana remains very well grounded offering the advice to work diligently on those things you can control and not spending efforts on things you cannot.

Phil Green, PGA. Phil came from a small town in Arizona and along with a great team of individuals has developed and grown a very successful management and golf consulting company headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. A Quarter Century Member of the PGA, Phil was active in both his golf career and in service to the Southwest Section PGA serving as a Board Member and Officer in the 1990’s. Phil has work experience as a head professional in both the Phoenix and Las Vegas markets and now serves as the Chief Operating Officer for OB Sports and their properties which are located in 15 different states and offers a variety of management and consulting services.

Jerry Roberts, PGA. Ever wondered what is was like in Las Vegas in the 1960’s? Jerry is the guy to ask! Jerry was elected to membership as he became the Head Professional at Spanish Trail Golf Club, a high end exclusive private club, in 1963. He worked and watched as the city around him exploded as an international tourist and celebrity destination and for nearly 40 years Jerry was the ‘go to guy’ at  Spanish Trail.  Currently a life member and still very active, Jerry has a great history as a player, teacher and ambassador of the game to some of the most memorable people in Las Vegas history. Jerry has more stories than he could ever tell and now adds the Hall of Fame to his list of enjoyable moments related to golf.

Congratulations to all of the current year inductees as well as their family and business associates who have supported them in their efforts to promote the game of golf in the Southwest Section of the PGA.

Respectfully,
Curt Hudek, PGA
