Jeff Lessig joins Mesa Country Club as Operations Manager

Re-opens after renovation Saturday, August 31st

A renaissance is under way at Mesa Country Club. The club reopened to member play on Saturday, August 31st, following an extensive renovation/modernization project. The club also has added dozens of new members and is now welcoming long-time Valley club manager, Jeff Lessig, as its new Club Operations Manager.

Lessig joins Mesa Country Club’s leadership team consisting of Head Golf Professional Scott Wright and Superintendent Gregg Thomas. In this capacity, he will oversee all non-golf operations at Mesa Country Club including food & beverage; clubhouse, pool and tennis facilities and maintenance; accounting and human resources functions.  During his 30-plus year career, Lessig has led some of the Southwest’s most iconic and successful golf and country clubs, including WeKoPa and SunRidge Canyon golf clubs in Fountain Hills, Desert Highlands in Scottsdale and Indian Wells Golf Club in California.

He joins Mesa Country Club as it prepares to re-open its golf and clubhouse facilities following an extensive four-month renovation and modernization project, which enhanced the beauty and conditioning of its renowned Billy Bell-designed golf course in addition to enhancing the amenities and member experience throughout the other club facilities.

Located along the borders of Tempe and Scottsdale in northwest Mesa near the intersection of the 101 and 202 Loops, Mesa Country Club is easily accessible from downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale, Arcadia or any city in the East Valley. Unique among its classic peers, Mesa Country Club skirts up and down the plateau from which the city of Mesa got its name, creating dramatic elevation changes throughout with deft twists and turns moving both right and left.

Mesa Country Club’s golf course offers a completely “core-golf” layout with fairways lined by towering eucalyptus and pines and with no intrusions onto the golf course by residential development. Though just 6,800 yards, the golf course puts up a tremendous defense of par with subtle movements left and right and lightning fast greens.

In addition to golf, the club campus includes three dining options, six lighted tennis courts, a junior Olympic pool, spa, and golf practice facilities.
