5th Annual Tournament of Champions at McCormick Ranch

Hosted by Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour

The 5th Annual Tournament of Champions will be hosted by the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour at McCormick Ranch Golf Club December 27-28, 2013. Over 150 players competed in last year’s tournament and it has become one of the most recognized tournaments in the country in December. This tournament is the culmination of 45 tournaments that have occurred in 2013. There will be an Opening Ceremonies and Awards Banquet held at the Scottsdale Resort to highlight the Players of the Year Awards, Ryder Cup teams and other outstanding junior members.

Boys and Girls 10-19 from 20 states will compete in this AJGA recognized championship. There are still 2 qualifying tournaments left in Arizona in 2013 at ASU and Wigwam to complete the roster for their upcoming Tournament of Champions.

The Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour looks ahead to its 2014 schedule of events to include 10 tournaments. New 2 day Nationally ranked tournaments have been added at courses such as Gold Canyon, Grayhawk, TPC Scottsdale and Dove Mountain.

Tracy Cologne, the Tournament Director for the tour, told us that Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour (RMJGT) will offer free membership and a bag tag to players who want to join the organization.

“We started holding tournaments in Arizona in 2009, as we wanted to have tournaments for our members who live in states where the weather doesn’t permit play in winter, early spring or late fall. There are some beautiful courses in Arizona and juniors want to work on their golf skills year round. Having tournaments in Arizona has allowed us to help them accomplish their goals and compete with players who live in milder climates,” Tracy stated. “We are excited about the direction RMJGT has taken to allow players to experience competitive tournaments at great venues. And, we’re are able to assist players by allowing caddies and help players grow who want to take their skills to the collegiate level. Coaches contact us all the time about players now so we started College Golf Scholarship Advisors to help those players move on,” said Tracy.

The Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour wants to continue providing additional opportunities for these young players and work along with the other great organizations that do, as well.
