Rybicki captures crown on final hole. Whisler wins first IJGT Title at IJGT West Coast Kickoff

The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) held the first West Coast Event of the 2013-2014 season at TPC Scottsdale, September 1-2. The 36-hole event, was contested on the Stadium Course and the Champions Course.

The Boys 15-19 Division came down to the wire at the Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale. Ryan Rybicki of Maricopa, Arizona, was able to hold off Jackson Whisenhunt of Phoenix, and Sam McKay of Scottsdale, to earn his first IJGT title in the Boys 15-19 Division. Rybicki’s final-round score of 7-over-par 78 gave him a tournament total of 151 and a one-stroke victory.

McKay and Whisenhunt finished in a tie for second place with a tournament score of 152. McKay’s first-round score of 1-over-par 72 on the Stadium Course earned him the KENTWOOL Socks Lo-Pro Award, which goes to the player that has the lowest score in the first round of every IJGT Event. Whisenhunt carded a 6-over-par 77 on Monday claiming the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award.

Jack Whisler of Scottsdale, handled himself well en route to a victory in the Boys 14 & Under Division. Whisler’s score of 7-over-par 78 on Sunday earned him the KENTWOOL Socks Lo-Pro Award and also gave him a two-stroke lead going into the final round on Monday on the Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale.

Whisler and Mikee Ordona of Upland, California, traded quality shots on the first 14 holes with Whisler’s final-round score of 83 earning him the title and also the Clazic Belts Low Final Round Award. His tournament total was 161, while Ordona took second place in the tournament finishing with a tournament total of 164.
