Sandia Golf Club wins 2018 OB Sports National Team Championship

Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sandia Golf Club team wins its third title

Sandia Golf Club outlasted a field of 18 teams from across the country to win the 2018 OB Sports National Team Championship, held November 3-4 at Angel Park Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Sandia GC team finished with a total score of -34, besting Tijeras Creek Golf Club of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, by two shots.

“It all came together this weekend, and I couldn’t be prouder of the effort the guys put in over these last couple days,” said Matthew Long, General Manager of Sandia Golf Club. “There was some great golf played across the board out here, and to come out on top is a testament to some great guys playing some great golf. I can’t wait to show off our new OB Sports hardware in our golf shop!”

“This is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s great to see the friendships and camaraderie that have been created over the years because of this event” said Matt Molloy, Senior Vice President of Operations for OB Sports. “The team at Angel Park did a phenomenal job hosting the 144 player, three-day event. Both Angel Park courses were in great shape, the food was fantastic, and the weather was absolutely ideal.”

The event consisted of eight-player teams made up of four two-player teams, playing in one scratch flight and two amateur flights. Handicaps were used to determine net scoring, with two net team scores combining with the scratch gross flight score to determine the overall team score. Rounding out the top five teams on the leaderboard were the OB Sports Corporate Team, and both teams representing Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
