Scottsdale’s oldest public golf course – Starfire Golf Club undergoes massive $750,000 renovation

Starfire Golf Club, the oldest 18-hole public golf course in Scottsdale designed by the late Arnold Palmer, has undergone a $750,000 transformation that will have both experienced and novice golfers eager to try the new ground breaking layout never before seen in Scottsdale.

The golf course, which is located off Hayden north of Shea, is currently being transformed into a King 18-hole (par 70) course and a Mulligan 9-hole (par 28) course, as well as practice and teaching facilities being enhanced to include a newly expanded driving range. The new 9-hole course and driving range opened on November 1st.

The Mulligan 9-hole course features a new innovative type of layout that will allow novice golfers, juniors, families and skilled low handicapped players to enjoy a round of golf all at the same time. There are several features on the Mulligan 9-hole course that make it practical for all; this includes two sizes of holes to choose from, as well as five different tee boxes making each hole distance longer or shorter depending on the experience of the golfer.

The popular King 18-hole course, in the traditional format, has been enhanced with new landscape design, continuing to offer the much-loved park-like golf setting for all levels of play.

The new 300+ yard long driving range is an addition that golfers will love to utilize as a way to simply come out to practice their golf game or as a good way to warm up before heading out to take on the King 18-hole or the Mulligan 9-hole.

Starfire Grille, the golf clubs restaurant, is also undergoing a renovation that includes a new wood-fired pizza oven and an enhanced kitchen area. The expanded menu will include a variety of artisan pizza and pasta offerings for enjoyment in the dining room, or as a take-away option.

Starfire Golf Club is open 7:00am to 8:00pm and is located at 11500 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale. Tee times can be booked online at
