Arizona Biltmore Golf Club’s Tina Tombs named Top Instructor by Golf Tips magazine and GOLF Magazine

Arizona Biltmore Golf Club’s Director of Instruction Tina Tombs has been recognized as one of the nation’s top golf instructors for 2019-2020 by Golf Tips magazine and GOLF Magazine

In the February 2019 issue, Golf Tips magazine named Tombs one of the Top 25 Golf Instructors in America for 2019-2020. Meanwhile, GOLF Magazine just named Tombs one of the Top 100 Golf Instructors for 2019-2020 in their March 2019 issue.

GOLF Magazine’s biennial process is powered by the Top 100 Teachers Credentials Committee and is the only national golf instructor search that combines outside academic and PGA peer review. Candidates are screened against 15 baseline criteria, including their teaching experience and accomplishments, student portfolio and peer ratings, along with their overall commitment to the growth of the game, both through volunteerism and their ability to use digital platforms. In addition to a public application, candidates are nominated by the PGA, LPGA and United States Golf Teachers Federation, among others. The committee reviews 250 applications, on average, before selecting the new members.

In addition to the prestigious Golf Tips and GOLF Magazine awards, Tombs was also recently named to U.S. Kids Golf’s annual list of Master Kids Coaches. The award recognizes the world’s most outstanding youth golf instructors, and Tombs is part of a select group that earned Top 50 honors.

A member of Arizona State University’s Athletic Hall of Fame, Tombs has been director of instruction at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club since 2003. Among her many golf accomplishments, in 1984 she was ranked among Golf Digest’s top 10 amateur golfers in the USA. In 1987, she began a 14-year career playing on the LPGA Tour. The highlight of her LPGA career was winning the 1990 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic. Today, as founder and president of Tina Tombs Golf, Tombs oversees and organizes the overall education and teaching programs for the Tina Tombs Golf Learning Center at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club.
