The centerpiece of one of Arizona’s unique communities and one of the top country clubs in Phoenix, Moon Valley Country Club prides itself on tradition – but the inside story is the club’s promising future. On March 1, 2004, the members of Moon Valley Country Club decided to purchase the nearly 50-year-old private country club, ending a two-decade era that saw dramatic improvements and launched an era that promises to take the total country club experience to new heights.

Long owned by legendary PING founder Karsten Solheim and the site of Annika Sorenstam’s historic 59 at the 2001 Standard Register PING LPGA Tournament, Moon Valley Country Club is an impressive facility. Troon Golf was hired to manage the day-to-day operations which include: 36 holes of golf (including the 18-hole Moon Walk Executive course), a full sized gymnasium, eight tennis courts, heated Olympic-size pool, play pool, fitness center with an indoor golf training studio, Pilates studio, two racquetball courts, aerobics room, golf shop, and four locker rooms.

Foresight and strategic planning by the leaders of Moon Valley Country Club, assisted by a comprehensive survey of current club members, inspired the development of the Club’s Special Project Committee. The Committee was charged with planning improvements that would boost membership sales and member usage in a highly competitive private club market, simultaneously setting the stage for when the economy makes a turn for the better – and most importantly, providing current members a greatly enhanced new club experience. The renovation and remodeling project began in 2008 with the goal for completion in spring of 2009.

The innovative and forward thinking of a great team of members, management and Troon Golf support, opened the doors to the newly renovated and remodeled Clubhouse in July, 2009. Accomplishments include the beautiful, welcoming new Clubhouse entry, luxurious Men’s and Ladies’ Locker Rooms, Grille 59, named in honor of Annika Sorentam’s historic 59, Members’ Dining Room, the Founders’ Private Dining Room, a sophisticated wine bar, an expansive covered patio with ample seating for dining, accompanied by soft seating, ceiling fans and fire pits, expanded banquet and catering facilities with a new kitchen, service areas and two more additional patios for outdoor dining.

The Club now boasts about the views, relaxing atmosphere, social setting and a Clubhouse of which to be most proud. Moon Valley Country Club has become the unequivocal first choice as the location to bring clients, friends or family for a drink on the patio, a great dinner or lunch.

The heart of Moon Valley Country Club is in the people. There is a dedication and commitment to the Club based upon friendships and business relationships that has lasted decades. As the Club begins to plan a month long celebration of its 50th Anniversary in April 2010, a committee has been selected to revisit the multi-generational platforms and highlights that have made the Club what it is today.

Moon Valley Country Club, at its essence, is “a golfer’s club” that welcomes every member of the family. It’s a place where players understand the game and embrace a genuine philosophy of golf at every level of play. Women golfers find Moon Valley to be a uniquely welcoming atmosphere with friendly, supportive competition. The junior golf program is producing some of the area’s best young players. To complement the pleasures of this world-class, highly regarded golf course, Moon Valley also offers an amazing array of recreational opportunities. The aquatics programs encourage swimmers to excel beginning at the young age of 5 through the Country Club League which is recreational in nature and oriented to strengthen a child’s strokes and enjoyment of the water. Moon Valley Aquatics Club adds the element of competition reaching to national levels. Adults can continue their love of swimming with the Masters Swim Program as well. The avid tennis player will fulfill their ambition with interclub leagues, intra-club leagues and social games and gatherings. The fitness center offers the state-of-the-art equipment for every person’s needs to meet health and fitness goals with the assistance of personal training, organized classes including Spinning, Yoga, Pilates, Boot Camp, specialized seminars and assisted goal setting. A new child watch program was developed this year to allow parents to enjoy an evening together knowing that their children are close by enjoying games and activities with other Club children. With almost 1,000 members and an abundant offering of activities and events, Moon Valley Country Club is truly a place that can cater to anyone’s needs in a recreational or social environment.

The Club offers membership categories designed to meet the needs of today’s individuals and families. Full Golf Memberships are inclusive of all club privileges and amenities, Sports Memberships offers the Moon Walk, driving range, tennis, fitness, swimming and social and dining, Fitness Memberships provide for privileges to the fitness center, swimming, social and dining while the Clubhouse presents a great dining experience with an array of social events and parties.
