Home field advantage proved to be too much to overcome as the defending Tetherow team captured the OB Sports Invitational Cup Matches held in Bend, Oregon. Created as a gathering for OB Sports Golf Management’s private facilities and additional clubs by special invitation, matches provide an opportunity for the members of OB Sports-managed facilities to enjoy the other facilities in the OB network and to develop lasting bonds and relationships with other club members from around the globe.

The format for the OB Sports Invitational Cup Matches is a “Match Around” where all players compete in 45 holes of two-person, net best-ball matches in two flights. Each team is comprised of a Club Professional, along with five club members. A cumulative point total scored by each team determined the winners in each flight. The two winning teams face off in a four-hole grand finale, alternate shot horse race to determine the winner of “The OB Cup”.

In the “O” Flight of the tournament, Tetherow 1, lead by Managing Partner of Tetherow, Chris van der Velde, racked up a tournament high 94 points over their five 9-hole matches. The “B” flight, however, was a different story. The teams from Angel Park, Dalhousie, and a second Tetherow team were all tied in points after the fourth round of matches. Tetherow 2, captained by Club Manager and Director of Golf, Martin Chuck, was able to pull away and met Tetherow 1 in the 4 hole playoff. Ultimately, the defending champions of 2009 were too much to handle and came away victorious. The championship team from Tetherow included: Chris van der Velde, CA Roberts, Bobby Grover, Adam Huycke, Mark Shields and David Brunkal. “The final match was certainly all Tetherow and their first team played unbelievably,” stated Doc Belitz, Vice President of Operations of OB Sports. “Congratulations to Tetherow and thank you to all of the participating teams who competed in this signature OB Sports event,” added Belitz

Ten teams participated in the 6th Annual OB Sports Invitational Cup Matches. Participating clubs in the 2010 OB Invitational Cup Matches included: Tetherow Golf Club (2) – Bend, Oregon; Dalhousie Golf Club – Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Angel Park Golf Club – Las Vegas, Nevada; Talking Rock - Prescott, Arizona; Somerby Golf Club (2) - Rochester, MN; Longbow Golf Club - Mesa, AZ; High Meadow Ranch Golf Club – Magnolia, TX and Centennial Golf Club – Medford, OR.
