If you love golf, it just doesn’t get better than Arizona. Throughout the year, we are lucky to experience a climate that allows us to enjoy world-class golf without leaving the state. As the golf season in the Valley comes to a warm close, we are lured north to higher elevations and cooler temperatures. When you start to feel the pull, make sure you are pulled to Payson. A quiet town only 90 minutes from the Valley that is home to one of Arizona’s truly great courses.

The Rim Golf Club is a Tom Weiskopf/Jay Morrish design collaboration (the last of the dynamic team) that utilizes the setting of Arizona’s Rim Country to showcase its brilliant design. The par 71, 5,211 to 7,193 yard course meanders gracefully through the largest contiguous stand of Ponderosa pine trees in the country.  Views of the Granite Dells and Mogollon Rim frame each and every shot and give you cause to take a minute on each tee box to take in the beauty of the surroundings. From the grandeur of the 13th hole, appropriately named “Elephant Rock” to the strategic 5th hole, dubbed “Decision Pine”, The Rim is host to many memorable holes.  This is mountain golf at its best. A wonderful alternative to the desert courses of the Valley, The Rim is a mountain club that embodies the beauty of Arizona’s high country and the greatness of golf in one crisp and cool package. Whether you’re after a round to put your game to the test or a relaxing few hours in the pines, The Rim will not disappoint. Consistently ranked as the Top Residential Golf Course in the state, The Rim is a “must play” for all who love the game.

Not unlike many private clubs across the country, there has been much change recently at The Rim. Lucky for us, these changes have created a wonderful opportunity to experience something great with very little risk. The Rim Golf Club and its members obtained full ownership and control of the Club last year. This is celebratory news for all Rim members in that they now own the entire facility unencumbered by any debt. In this climate of uncertainty, this is definitely a “good news” story in the golf industry. The future of The Rim Golf Club is a bright one to be sure.

With innovative new membership opportunities focused on value and the membership experience, you need to check out The Rim.  One such opportunity is the Associate Membership. With a $3,000 Initiation Fee and Annual Dues of $3,600, it is a great value option for those who want a private club membership but don’t have the time to get to Payson very often. The membership has a limit of 50 rounds per year and Associate Members may not own a residence within 50 miles of the Club. When asked about the thought process behind the Associate Membership, Membership Director, Sam Arnold replied, “We wanted to create a way for people to customize their membership experience. We feel like there are a lot of players out there that still want to belong to a private club but justifying the cost versus the time they currently spend at the Club is tough. The Associate bridges the gap by offering a low cost avenue to play when your schedule allows, without the feeling that you have to get to the Club.”

With the temperatures in the Valley creeping ever closer to HOT, The Rim offers a getaway that is on par with the best clubs that Arizona has to offer and is a quick drive up the scenic Beeline Highway. “Our Associate Membership is a great option for those who are members of some of the great clubs in the Valley. Our goal is not to replace those wonderful facilities, rather to be the answer to the need to still play great golf during those high temperatures and overseeding periods,” Arnold states.

In addition to the Associate Membership, Equity, Convertible, and Junior Memberships are also available. Like the Associate Membership, the Junior Membership allows for a customized approach. Memberships are tiered in price and age brackets to allow members to grow with the Club. Whatever your appetite, The Rim has an option for you.

The Rim Club is also allowing limited non-member play for the 2011 season. So, cruise up the Beeline and see why it really is cool up here.
