Escape the heat for a good cause

Williams Aquatic Center Golf Tournament set for Elephant Rocks Golf Course in Williams, AZ Sunday June 3rd

Elephant Rocks Golf Course, Hole #12

If you are looking for a great weekend of golfing all while escaping the heat of the desert, look no farther than the 3rd Annual Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center Golf Tournament in the tall pines of Elephant Rocks Golf Course in Williams, Arizona on Sunday June 3rd, 2012 at 10am.

This tournament benefits the Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center, a non-profit organization formed in 2010. The organization is working to get the city’s indoor pool reopened full-time after being closed in January, 2010 due to the local economic impact of the worldwide recession. The Williams Aquatic Center served the City of Williams, which has approximately 3,000 residents, as well as the surrounding communities of Ash Fork, Seligman, Red Lake, Valle, Tusayan, Grand Canyon Village, and Parks. The facility was used by several local schools, as well as for physical therapy, swimming lessons, aerobics, lifeguard training, and more before it was closed.

The 3rd Annual FWAC Golf Tournament features a $10,000 Hole in One contest, several “Closest to the Pin” contests, prizes, and a Deep Pit BBQ dinner featuring beef, pork, and much more. Early Registration (before May 12) is only $80 per golfer, and includes all golfer’s contests, a door prize entry, and the Deep Pit BBQ.

Elephant Rocks Golf Course is located in historic Williams, Arizona, approximately 30 miles west of Flagstaff on I-40 at Exit 161. The 18-hole course opened in 2000, and is at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet above sea level, meaning high temperatures in the low 90’s during the summer, some 20-25 degrees lower than the deserts.
