Well, my fellow golfers, it’s that time of year for us to look forward to the courses’ new overseeding schedules and how beautiful they will be when it’s completed for our perfect peak season golfing weather. Until then, we need to gather our fellow golfers and head to New Mexico, preferably Albuquerque. Great airfares, tons of flight choices and the best golf resort and casino in their state, Sandia Resort and Casino. And, they’ll even come pick you up at the airport! What more could you ask?

Had the pleasure of experiencing Sandia Resort and Casino recently during a New Mexico visit. It was oh so much more than expected! The golf course layout was breathtaking with its desert links design by Scottsdale based Scott Miller Design. Mountain views of the Sandia’s throughout your round, elevation changes, water hazards and rolling contoured fairways throughout the astounding 7,772 yards from the back tees. This is the longest golf course in New Mexico (but the multiple tee boxes make the course comfortable for all levels of golfers)! You will be awed from the moment you arrive at their clubhouse as this impeccably conditioned golf layout visually promises you one large challenge.

It isn’t just the 5,300-ft elevation and the Sandia Mountains that makes the golf breathtaking...the Resort is inclusive of a 10,000 sq. ft. Pueblo style clubhouse including a 3,000 sq. ft. patio/outdoor event area with an excellent full service restaurant grill. The 10,000 sq. ft practice area includes driving range, chipping, bunker and putting areas, and an exceptionally well-appointed golf shop, all with magnificent views of the Sandias.

A few of the Club’s accolades include Golf Inc’s “Best New Development of 2005”; “Top 10 New Courses you can Play” Golf Magazine; “Top 5 – Best Courses You Can Play in New Mexico”, “Top 100 Best Resort Courses in the Country” and “Best Casino Courses in the Country”  by Golfweek. Sandia Golf Club is also professionally managed by Scottsdale-based OB Sports.

The unique Sandia Resort & Casino combines the rich pueblo heritage of the Southwest with the comforts of a deluxe resort. The Resort is absolutely exquisite with a complete 5 Star feel. Beautiful décor following the southwestern theme, spacious lobbies with water features throughout, and dining venues (nine at the latest count) to cater to your every whim. Bien Shur made an outstanding impression on the 9th floor with surround glass facing the Sandia Mountains. Breathtaking is an understatement! This incredible fine dining (New Mexico’s premier steakhouse) restaurant also offers a large lounge area with live music and the best palette pleasing sliders you’ll ever encounter, from the expertise of Chef de Cuisine Marc Quinones, no doubt.

Leave your cares behind as you enter their over-sized luxury guestrooms, featuring breathtaking views of the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande Valley. Lavish bathrooms with glass paneled showers and separate soaking tubs, flat-panel televisions, entertainment docking stations, personal safes, complimentary Wireless and Wired Internet access and that’s just the beginning. Enjoy a dip in the pool. Unwind in the hot tub. Treat yourself to a delicious meal. Relax and make yourself at home. You’ve arrived.

Pulse-racing excitement awaits you with more than 140,000 sq. ft. of your favorite games, including more than 2,300 slots, Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Mini Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, Caribbean Stud Poker, Three Card Poker, Let It Ride, the state’s largest non-smoking Poker room, Bingo and live Keno. Definitely makes you stop and think, wait am I in Vegas?
