Tour Edge’s Exotics 2014 lineup is once again top-notch. Not only are they bringing quality products to the market that hit a variety of price points, but they also differentiate their products to players of all abilities. Taking center-stage in the product line is the CB PRO fairway wood, which came on the market with its shock wave sole this past November. Even though the CB PRO is a story all on its own, Tour Edge engineers didn’t stop there, they improved the successful XCG line and really pushed the technology boundaries to bring the XCG7 family in as the next generation.

Tour Edge, famous for their Bazooka brand golf clubs that hit a mid-price point, created Exotics in 2004. The initial goal for the Exotics collection was to use more high-end materials and the most advanced technology available that were outside of the Bazooka price points. The past nine years has seen Exotics evolve into one of the best fairway wood innovators in the market having several wins on the PGA Tour, and winning countless head-to-head equipment competitions. The limited edition CB PRO is the club Exotics was created for.

David Glod, President and Founder, “When we decided to create the Exotics line, the CB PRO is the type of club I had envisioned. It’s very exciting to be introducing a product of this caliber to the market; there isn’t anything else like it.”

The new CB PRO combines the retro, smaller head size with an innovative sole function - Slip Stream™ - to create the ultimate fairway wood for accomplished players. The sole can best be described as shock waves ebbing and flowing in different patterns across the sole to glide through the turf. This limited turf contact allows the head to maintain maximum speed through impact and therefore achieve greater distance.

Now for the tech talk. The CB PRO features Tour Edge’s premium beta titanium cup face with a hyper-steel body to produce maximum distance in a fairway wood. As a result, the CT reaches the USGA-allowed maximum of 250. The no-weld design combo-brazes the beta-titanium cupped face with the heavier hyper steel body. The result, every single gram of excess weight is eliminated from the face and shifted to the sole for a lower center of gravity position in the compact head.

The unsurpassed technology found in the CB PRO is being combined with the hottest shafts available, which helps to explain the price. Suggested retail is $499. No that’s not a misprint, but when you understand what goes into the club the price begins to make sense. Tour Edge selected Fujikura’s Tour winning, redesigned Speeder 757 and 661 shafts as the perfect fit for the club head. The total package doesn’t end there, the CB PRO also comes standard with a Japanese IOMIC grip and a hand crafted leather Stitch head cover.

“Is it expensive? Yes, probably the most expensive fairway wood available to the public,” admits Glod, “But, it’s just that good combined with the Speeder shafts, grip, and the high-end, leather headcover from Stitch Golf.”

The new XCG7 family begins with the driver, which offers more variability, technology, and material upgrades than its predecessors. The XCG7 adjustable driver is available in two different clubheads, 440cc (Beta) and 460cc. The XCG7 driver features upgraded performance in a 6A4V titanium, 460cc driver head that produces easy-launching and high trajectory with added forgiveness. The Beta, 440cc adjustable clubhead presents a smaller, refined shape composed of 6A4V titanium with a deeper, beta titanium face. Both club heads incorporate added adjustability with loft options from 8.5 to 12 degrees in ½ degree increments.

Prevalent throughout the XCG7 collection (driver, fairway woods, and hybrids) is the Power Grid. Tour Edge engineers positioned the Power Grid directly behind the hitting area to create an accordion-like effect and increases spring-effect by flexing at impact.

For greater stability in each clubhead there are four advanced-position hexahedron weight pads which also maximize MOI (moment of inertia). For a more penetrating launch angle, and to minimize spin, the pads in the Beta are located higher and closer to the face.

The XCG7 fairway woods continue the Exotics tradition of excellence and are twice as marketable available in two heads, XCG7 and XCG7 Beta models. The XCG7 is specifically designed with greater forgiveness in mind featuring a lower profile and larger clubhead while the Beta model is highlighted by a deeper face and a smaller clubhead, promoting a more boring trajectory.

The XCG7 fairway woods reach a very high CT level using a brand new, streamlined brazing technique and a new more dense custom 465 forged maraging cup face. A callout to its name, the XCG7 Beta features a forged beta titanium cup face for supreme COR.

Suggested retail for the drivers: XCG7 $299.99; Beta $349.99; fairway woods: XCG7 $249.99; Beta $299.99. Tour Edge’s Exotics come with Tour Edge’s lifetime warranty. For more information call 800.515.3343 or visit www.touredge.com.
