OB Sports announces key appointments at Raven Golf Club – Phoenix

Scottsdale-based OB Sports Golf Management and Raven Golf Club – Phoenix (formerly Raven at South Mountain) announced the appointment of a number of key management positions. Derek Crawford was appointed as the General Manager, Jeremy Strauss was named the new Head Golf Professional and Michael Reinecke was appointed as Director of Greens & Grounds. In the food and beverage departments for Raven Golf Club – Phoenix, Dan Kerr was appointed as Director of Food and Beverage and Jason Goldstein was appointed as Executive Chef.

Derek Crawford – General Manager
Crawford has a history working for OB Sports as he served as the Director of Operations at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Fort McDowell from 2001 through 2010. Most recently he was the Director of Operations at SunRidge Canyon. Crawford was born and raised in Phoenix and has over 30 years of experience in the Arizona golf industry. Prior to his tenure at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club he served as an golf equipment sales representative and also served in management professional positions at ASU Karsten Golf Course (1995-1996), Stonecreek Golf Club (1996-1999), PING Golf as a PGA Tour representative (1990-1995), Gainey Ranch Golf Club (1987-1989) and Orange Tree Golf Resort (1980-1987). Crawford was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and is a St. Mary’s graduate. He attended Phoenix College and Arizona State University. While at Arizona State, he played collegiate golf alongside Dan Forsman, and also with Crawford’s twin brother Daryl, who also works for OB Sports as the General Manager at the nearby ASU Karsten Golf Course in Tempe.

Jeremy Strauss – Head Golf
Strauss came to the Raven from the PGA Tour network of TPC golf clubs where he served as a golf professional at the TPC Scottsdale – Stadium Course (2004 – 2011). Originally from Syracuse, New York, Strauss has resided in Arizona for ten years. He is a class A Member of the PGA of America since 2006 and holds an advertising degree from Purdue University.

Michael Reinecke – Director of Greens and Grounds
Like Strauss, Reinecke also came to the Raven from the PGA Tour network of TPC golf clubs. He has over a decade of experience working at PGA Tour facilities. Most recently, he oversaw agronomy at TPC Scottsdale – Stadium Course. Originally from Columbus, Ohio has resided in Arizona for over 15 years and has been a member of the GCSAA for over ten years.

Dan Kerr – Director of Food and Beverage
Prior joining OB Sports, Kerr managed Arizona restaurants including Jackson’s On Third, Fox Sports Grill and the Village Tavern. Kerr has been instrumental in overseeing the enhancements of Raven Golf Club – Phoenix’s restaurant and dining facilities that include new restaurant interior design elements, dining rebranding and enhancement of special event offerings.

Jason Goldstein – Executive Chef
Goldstein has over a decade of experience overseeing culinary operations of golf clubs throughout Arizona. Since joining the team at Raven, Goldstein has been instrumental in creation of a new dining menu that was unveiled when the club and restaurant re-opened October 14th. He has also been directing efforts enhancing the banquet, event and wedding menus and experiences at this popular special event venue.
